WHO WE ARE
The Kelowna Veterinary Care Foundation is a volunteer-run charitable organization providing veterinary-led medical support for animals and families in genuine need across Kelowna and the Okanagan.
We are not a clinic. We are not a rescue. We are the bridge — stepping in when the system runs out of options and an animal’s life hangs in the balance.
Every person involved volunteers their time. Our board includes veterinary professionals contributing their expertise personally, alongside community members and animal-care specialists committed to doing this the right way.
Why We Were Created
The need was always there. Families facing hardship who couldn’t afford a diagnosis. Animals surrendered not because they weren’t loved, but because treatment was out of reach. Cases that fell into the gap between what rescues could handle and what clinics could offer for free.
We created this Foundation to fill that gap — with professional oversight, careful decision-making, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare above all else.
How We Fit In
We’re not here to replace the incredible rescues and animal care organizations already doing important work in the Okanagan.
We collaborate, refer, and support:
Supporting cases that fall outside the scope of rescues.
Providing veterinary-led guidance when the path forward isn’t clear.
Filling gaps to save lives.
Our Governance
The Foundation is guided by a volunteer board, including:
Veterinary professionals contributing personally and independently of their clinical work
Community members with experience in animal welfare, nonprofit management, and community care
External advisors as needed for complex medical or ethical decisions
All funding decisions are made collectively, with welfare and prognosis as the primary criteria.
Our Focus Area
We serve Kelowna and the broader Okanagan region. As the Foundation grows, our reach may expand — but for now, our focus is local, intentional, and grounded in community.
