Every Animal Deserves Somewhere to Turn.

Rescue. Rehabilitation. Veterinary care. Rehoming.
The Kelowna Veterinary Care Foundation helps animals in our community when they need somewhere to go, someone to step in, or veterinary care that might otherwise be out of reach.

From surrendered and abandoned animals to animals found in unsafe situations, we work to get them to safety, provide the care they need, and find the right path forward.

We’re Here When an Animal Needs Help

Sometimes an animal needs more than one thing.

They may need to be safely removed from a difficult situation. They may need somewhere to stay. They may need medical treatment, time to recover, behavioural support, or simply a person willing to give them another chance.

That is where we come in.

Kelowna Veterinary Care Foundation is a volunteer-run organization supporting animals and the people who care about them throughout Kelowna and the surrounding community.

We don’t believe every animal fits neatly into one category. We look at the animal in front of us, what they need, and how we can help.

What We Do

Rescue & Safe Intake

We take in animals who can no longer remain where they are, including owner surrenders and animals facing difficult or unsafe circumstances.

We may also be able to assist with stray, loose or at-risk animals when it is safe, appropriate and within our capacity to do so.

Our first priority is always getting the animal somewhere safe.

Surrender an Animal

Foster & Rehoming

Our goal isn’t just to find an animal a home. It is to find the right home.

Whenever possible, animals spend time in foster care where we can learn more about their personality, behaviour, needs and the kind of family in which they are most likely to thrive.

When they are ready, we carefully match them with adopters who can give them the life they deserve.

Become a Foster

Veterinary Care & Rehabilitation

Many animals arriving in our care need veterinary treatment before they are ready for their next chapter.

Because our work is veterinary-led, we can make sure each animal receives an appropriate assessment and treatment plan. This may include vaccinations, parasite treatment, spay or neuter surgery, diagnostics, surgery, medication, dental care or ongoing medical management.

Some simply need time.

Our foster homes and volunteers give animals the opportunity to recover, build confidence and become ready for life with a new family.

Meet Our Animals

Helping Pets Stay With the Families Who Love Them

Sometimes surrender isn’t the answer.

Through our Community Care Fund, we can help with veterinary expenses in situations where financial hardship is standing between an animal and necessary medical care.

Requests are reviewed carefully, with veterinary professionals helping us determine where our funding can make a meaningful difference.

When we can help an animal recover and remain safely with the family who loves them, that is an outcome worth fighting for too.

Request Veterinary Support

Different Needs.
One Foundation.

An animal may come to us because their person can no longer care for them.

Another may be found frightened and loose. Another may need surgery.

Another might simply need a safe foster home for a few weeks before meeting their new family.

There is no single way an animal ends up needing help and there is no single way we help.

We rescue.

We provide veterinary care.

We rehabilitate.

We foster.

We rehome.

And, when appropriate, we help families access veterinary care so their animals never need to leave them in the first place.

From Crisis to Home

  • Get Them Safe

Whether through surrender, community outreach or another difficult circumstance, the first step is making sure the animal is safe.

  • Understand What They Need

Every animal receives an individual assessment. We look at their medical needs, behaviour, home situation and what will give them the best chance moving forward.

  • Treat, Recover & Rehabilitate

Veterinary treatment is provided where needed, followed by recovery, foster care and rehabilitation.

  • Find the Right Way Forward

For some animals, that means adoption into a new family. For others, it means receiving the veterinary support they need to remain with the family they already have.

The goal is the same: a safe, healthy animal with a future.

It Takes a Community

We are volunteer-run, and this work is only possible because people in our community decide to help.

Some open their homes to foster. Some adopt. Some transport animals, help with supplies or volunteer their time.

Others donate so that when the next call comes in, we are able to say:

“Yes. We can help.”

Animals Looking for Homes

Meet the animals currently in our care who are ready or getting ready to find their people. Every animal has a different story. Every adoption gives us the space and resources to help the next one.

Their Stories Are Why We Do This

Behind every rescue is an animal whose story could have ended very differently. These are the animals who were surrendered, rescued, treated, fostered, rehabilitated and loved on their way to something better.

How it works

Donations to our Angel Fund COMMUNITY CARE FUND go toward diagnostics, surgery, medications, and recovery care for animals who have no other path to treatment. Requests are reviewed by volunteer veterinary professionals. We fund cases where humane, medically appropriate recovery is realistic — and where no other support is available.
